NOTE: It has come to our attention that some clients are confused by written authorizations for payment of 8 psychotherapy sessions per year that are sent out by some insurers. Please understand that under the new mental health parity bill passed along with the initial economic stimulus bill, insurers can no longer limit the number of psychotherapy visits if they do not limit coverage for other medical conditions. Insurers are simply trying to offset any potential "overutilization" of mental health benefits by requiring new treatment plan authorizations every eight sessions. It has always been our practice to keep up with your authorizations for payment, and to submit treatment plans timely for you in order not to disrupt the process of helping you. If you have any questions/concerns about this, please call or leave a message for our office manager. Do not neglect your needs out of confusion about this.
